*POSITION FILLED* Experienced & Friendly Career Nanny Needed for Infant & Toddler in Green Hills - $25-$30/hour - Job #315

A family of 4 in Green Hills is looking for a career nanny to provide full-time care for their 2 kids long term starting January 2, 2023. They have a 4-month-old and a 4-year-old who is in full-time preschool, so primary care will be for the infant. They describe themselves as very communicative and believe that is the key to a successful nanny/family relationship. They highly respect a nanny’s role and are looking for someone who is experienced with infants and toddlers, their developmental needs, and planning enriching activities both inside and outside of the home. The typical schedule will be 40 hours and a 4 day workweek falling M-F from 7:30am-5:30pm. There is the opportunity for overtime in the form of some weeks needing an extra half day for a total of 45 hours and mom has 3 busy months per year where they typically need 50 hours per week if the nanny is willing and available to work the extra hours. They are offering $25-$30 gross per hour, DOE, legal overtime + benefits such as guaranteed hours, paid vacation, paid sick time, and paid holidays!

They are very organized and scheduled and always provide the exact schedule at least 2 weeks in advance, with many of the important dates, such as family vacations, added to the shared calendar months in advance. They encourage their nanny to also add their own commitments to the shared calendar so there is mutual flexibility and respect. For example, if the nanny has a doctors appointment that’s communicated well enough in advance, they can coordinate the schedule for that week so it falls on the nanny’s day off rather than the nanny having to use PTO. They also have layers of backup childcare nearby and while they heavily rely on a committed and dependable nanny, they understand life happens and a nanny may need to miss work from time to time.

Dad works out of the home and mom works from home 1-2 days per week and coordinates one of the days to fall on the nanny’s day off. When home, she understands the importance of giving her nanny the space to do their job and does have a home office she works out of. With that said, they really would like someone who is comfortable if mom happens to be home and around. As for parenting style they believe in setting boundaries and enforcing consequences. A nanny who could gently educate them on best practices that are age appropriate and effective would be appreciated - they are very open to suggestions! The typical job duties will include anything and everything related to the children and their items such as: laundry, kids’ linens, packing lunch, clipping baby’s fingernails, having the kids make a card/get a gift for a relative’s birthday when they see it on the calendar, washing bottles/pump parts, descaling humidifier, organizing and tidying child areas/belongings, loading/unloading dishwasher, opening kid amazon packages and putting away, putting away instacart deliveries, and more.

Their ideal nanny is a bit on the extroverted side and comfortable with spending some time with grandma who lives down the street. They would also love someone who really strikes a balance between enriching at home activities and getting out of the house. They have memberships to the zoo, science center, cheekwood, etc. and highly encourage outings, but they would also like a nanny who is comfortable planning some at-home arts and crafts, sensory bins, or even independent free play. The main thing is they would like someone proactive who doesn’t have to be told what to do. They trust their nanny to structure an enriching day, so if the nanny needs some materials for an at home art project, the nanny can either communicate that to mom or just purchase the items with the work credit card. It’s important that their nanny has infant experience and is knowledgeable on introducing solids, assessing for allergens, sleep training, basic baby sign language, creating and maintaining a schedule, and developmental milestones.

Their baby was born prematurely so they are looking for someone who is Covid vaccinated and Covid cautious by wearing a mask when taking the kids to indoor places. They are also waiting until their baby is fully Covid vaccinated before the nanny can take them out of the house, which will be in February. They highly value a nanny’s role and are so excited to find someone long-term for ideally years to come!
