*POSITION FILLED* Full-Time Family Assistant Needed in Baltimore (Towson) - $25-$30+ per hour - Job #210

[POSITION FILLED] A dual physician family is searching for a flexible and dynamic Nanny/Family Assistant to join their team ASAP! They have 3 children ages 7, 5, and 15 months. All kids go to school full-time, so the nanny will have large chunks of the day that are child-free and spent focusing on family assistant tasks. During sick days, school breaks, and the summer, the position will shift to much more of a nanny role with less family assistant duties. With that in mind, they are looking for someone who is experienced with providing full-time full charge childcare, is passionate about working with kids, is knowledgeable in child development, and has experience planning enriching days both inside and outside of the house. The 40 guaranteed hour schedule will vary on a week-to-week basis, but will be given 1 month in advance so the nanny can plan their life accordingly. Most weeks will be 3-5 days per week falling M-F, with about 1 week per month involving weekends. The typical schedule will involve getting the kids up and ready for school, dropping them off, coming back to the house to work on family assistant duties, and then picking kids up from school and bringing home/taking them on an outing.

Their ideal candidate has experience juggling multiple children and working as a family assistant. It is very important to them that they find someone who is not only skilled at keeping the household running smoothly, but also genuinely enjoys it. A nanny who is super child-centric and doesn’t enjoy the background work, would not be a good fit. The responsibilities will include anything and everything related to the family (note: no deep cleaning!) including laundry, light tidying, keeping inventory of items running low, planning and preparing dinner, running errands, loading/unloading dishwasher, taking out diaper trash, keeping child areas stocked with necessary items such as diapers, wipes, etc., organizing child areas, staying on top of homework assignments, making sure library books are returned on time, getting necessary items when family is signed up for school snack/parties, and more. Interested candidates should have a strong ability to think ahead, take initiative, and be proactive. Preparing family dinner is something that would be a huge help to them, so interested candidates should be comfortable in the kitchen and enjoy cooking.

The family is perfectly okay with the children having independent play time - in fact they encourage it! While engaging the children and planning fun activities/outings with them is definitely a part of the job, it’s also okay if the kids play independently while the nanny tends to something else. In fact, they would love a nanny who will try to involve their children in age-appropriate chores and responsibilities, as their goal is to raise self-sufficient children who can dress themselves and be responsible for their areas and belongings. They describe their parenting style as assertive with a conscious discipline approach. They are big on validating feelings, allowing kids to feel their emotions, talking through things, and showing affection. With that said, they do believe in having firm boundaries and sticking to them.

Because the parents work varying schedules, there will be times when mom works a 24 hour shift and is home sleeping or dad has a week off because he worked 100 hour weeks the 3 weeks prior. Interested candidates must be okay with this dynamic and understand their job and responsibilities should continue as normal regardless of if a parent happens to be home. They understand it can be a difficult environment when the kids, parent, and nanny are all home, so their policy is that the nanny is in charge when working. With that said, there will be times the parents are home and want to play and spend time with the kids, so interested candidates should have a strong ability to read the room and know when to step back on their nanny duties and focus on family assistant responsibilities. They are really looking for someone who is friendly, warm, loving, and organized to join their family. They describe themselves as very open to feedback and are interested in hiring a professional nanny who has an expertise in creating routines and implementing a good system so their family can thrive. Both parents are Covid vaccinated and the older kids are getting vaccinated soon. Interested candidates must be up to date on vaccinations (including annual flu shot) and following CDC recommendations.
